Latest bits of new stuff…

As mentioned on the home page, we’ve had a tricky month or two and thus there’s been a drought of new and archived material added to the site. As you’ll find on the archive section, we’ve dropped around 19 new articles to keep you occupied. As for the new stuff, it’s been a bit short on the ground, but here’s the latest offerings to add to the earlier batches from July and August.

“Bolton Get Battered Everywhere They Go” part 2 focuses on the seasons between 2000-2012 as the Whites get tonked by most of the top flight, but mainly Chelsea!

Unknown Wanderer has assisted this month with two worthwhile articles about some of our Icelandic heroes of yesteryear and of his days on at the ‘San Sealo’ in Mossley. Enjoy “Icelandic Wanderers and “It’s Not You, It’s Me”.

Recent news out of Wigan about how they may try to combat the empty seats prompted regular Paul Hanley to write “Tinpot Wigan – the Fun Continues. He was also inspired to comment about the state of our local rivalry now that we tend to feature in derbies with the likes of Fleetwood, Morecambe and Accrington of late – “Local Rivalry Turned Upside Down.

Lastly, we have a few snippets of things we’ve lifted from social media and the forums. “Mandy’s Rants focuses on the whacky world of Mandy Sheridan, a social media character of sorts! Plus “A View From t’Other Side” has pulled together a few comments from the opposition fans from our early season games – featuring Charlton, Wycombe, Port Vale and Sheffield Wednesday.

Regular feature “Good, Bad & Ugly has gone all Blackpool this month, whilst “Wigan Matt”, “Loyal White” and “Wayne Kerr” haven’t quite made the cut, but should be ready in the coming days.

Just scroll down the page and click the buttons to read. All of our articles are in a “blog” format, so once you have read one, you will see an arrow to click to the next piece. Alternatively, just hit the back button on your browser window.

ALL FEATURES – we have combined all of our features from early July until mid October. So get reading and we’d love to hear your feedback and comments through our contact page.

NEW FOR OCTOBER 2022

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

With the illuminations in full flow and Blackpool looking the most likely of our local neighbours to drop a division, White Love’s Paul Hanley took it upon himself to pen a series dedicated to the Seasiders.

  • “What a great read for any Bolton fan of a certain age. “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” captures the rollercoaster ride that so many football fans will be familiar with. Amazing how easy it is to remember the Good and surprisingly the Ugly. The Bad not so much! Brings the mood of Burnden Park back to life as realistically as anything I have read.” IC, Yeadon

  • “What a great read. For the fans who got through the 70s, 80s and 90s at Burnden Park, with its ups and downs, what a journey it was and somehow always a pleasure. My recollections over the years have blurred, but “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” has reopened my eyes and has recreated some of those lost memories for me. Absolutely loved reading it, a great book for any Wanderers fan.” SH, Bolton

  • “Very interesting history of our fantastic club. Having been to many of these matches, it brought back a lot of good (and bad!) memories. Great reminder of my youth spent following Bolton all over the country!” SH, Helsinki

  • “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, digs deep in the heart and souls of the football supporter who follows his club through everything that’s thrown at them. The ups, the downs and the blows taken while following the Whites is on every page of this unique historical and social account of a club we call our own.” AW, Walkden

  • “Some colourful and fantastic memories from a not too distant era but a time when football was not tainted by Sky or the cleansed products of today. A proper thrills pills and bellyache memoir of old school football. A fantastic read.” GB, Euxton
